Dubai Autodrome Dubai, United Arab Emirates 2003 700 acres Team: HOK, Buro Happold, WS Atkins, West Surrey Racing Track designers, Edara Role: Junior Architect |
||||
Dubai Autodrome is an international standard racing circuit with a world-class, 7,000-seat main grandstand and lavish amenities, a FIA-sanctioned purpose-built track and a new retail plaza. The architectural style expresses the idea of "dynamic balance," which communicates the excitement a driver feels while taking a hard corner and balancing different forces to push the limits of possibility. The track can host multiple events at once, allowing simultaneous operation of club racing, racing schools, and exhibition events. Large cantilevers provide ample shade. Raising many of the building forms above ground provides additional usable areas underneath. As Junior Architect with HOK_SVE in Dubai I worked on the concept development, execution and construction of the Grandstand, Go-Kart Pits building and the Marketing and Management building.
